Over a quarter million young fish have been planted in Lake Maxinkuckee and lost Lake this fall by
loca conservation clubs, who report a very successful year in their fish-raising program.
The Sanctuary Club has planted 27,000 small mouth bass in
Maxinkuckee. These fish measured from two and one-half to four inches.
The additional ponds produce an abundance of blue gills, which were planted in the two local llakes.
The fish totalled 186,000 and measured from one and one-hald to two inches
The Maxinkuckee FIsh and Game CLub also planted an
additional 69,000 large mouth bass in the lakes, and 88,000 blue gills that measured from one and
one-half to two and one-half inches.
Raised Pheasants Also
The clubs raised and liberated 161 pheasants, and hope that the hinters get their limit, but first
making sure to get the permission of the landowner or tenant before hunting on the individual's
property as a matter of good sportsmanship.
The club's hatchery on State Road 10 proved a popular spot this past summer, attracting 1,077
visitors, who came out to make use of the attractive location for picnics and recreation.
Both clubs wish to take this opportunity to express their appreciation of the generous supply of
small mouth bass (14,000) planted in Lake Maxinkuckee by the Izaac Walton League of Argos.
The officers of each club wish to thank the Indiana Department of COnservation and Game Warden
Herbert Sloan, and the public in general for their part in making the past season so successful. -
