Popular PLayhouse To Close Sep 3; Two PLays Remain

Paul RUtledge and Martin Tahse, managers of the Maxinkuckee Playhouse announced this week that the popular playhouse will close its first season of summer theatre prooductions one week earlier than had originally been announced

This measn that the closing production of the highly successful season will be "Golden Boy" and the final performance will bestaged on September 3 instead of September 10 as had been originally planned.

"You Can't Take it WIth YOu", originally scheduled as the last production, has been pit on the bill for next season, Playhouse officials have announced.

With the early closing, only two plays remain for the enjoyment of the summer theatre's audiences.

CUrrently, theatre goers are enjoying the second mystery play of the season, "Portrait in Black". The play an English import caused a stir along Broadway two seasons ago and which has never been released in this area until now, will remain on the Playhouse stafe through Sunday.

The large cast included Margit Friedlander, Paul Laumann, Herd Johnson and Nancy Todd. And another Culver person makes his stage debut on the Playhouse stage. Coke Smith son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Coke Smith will be seen in the very important role of Peter. Mr. Smith has been rehearsing with the players all week for his first stage appearance.

Tickets for "Potriat in Black" are still on sale at Oberlin's ELectric Store, or reservations may be made by phoning Culver 203. ALl Seats are reserved, and the curtain rises every evening at 8:30

In the announcement by the Playhouse, the directors request that any person desiriing to suggest a play for next season's bill should send a card or letter to the theater.

Tenatively scheduled are such plays as Harvery, DreamGirl, Summer and Smike,, and Beyond the Horizon.

Next year's season will run as long as did this year's with the PLayhouse presenting a summer of ten plays
