C. A. Shorb Sr., Former Palmer House Owner, Dies Charles A. Shorb Sr., age 72 years, former proprietor of the Palmer House here, died last week in a South Bend hospital after an illness of four days.

He was born in Pierceton, Ind., March 18, 1869, and went to South Bend 11 years ago to become owner of the Jefferson hotel.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Anna Calvert Shorb; two sons, J. Calvert Shorb and Charles C. Shorb, both of South Bend; and a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Ault of Santa Barbara, Calif.

Mr. Shorb was a member of the Masonic fraternity, in which he had attained the 32nd degree, and was a member of the Shrine
