Betty Lea Harper and Ellen Pengilly

These two members of the Culver High Schoo "Schoolbell" won high honors at the recent meeting of the National High School Press Association in Indianapolis when they placed in the state contests.

Miss Pengilly placed second out of 297 enteries in the news writing division, first place going to Central High of Munice, while Miss Harper was among the first six in the difficutl current events contest.

Both girls along with Walter Vonnegut and Glen Miller, were sectional chairmen, the only students outside of Indianapolis schools to be accorded that distinction.

Betty Lea, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Harper was born in Dayton, O. and is the editor-in-chief of the "Schoolbell", chairman of Girls Reserves publicity committee, and is a member of the senior play cast.
