Edward W. Jones
We have With us Today....
Edward W. Jones has tossed a lot of coal into the hunge=ry boilers of the school
heating plant in the 16 years he has served as custodian but that has been only
a small part of his duties in keeping the three buildings in tip-top shape.
Ed's all-around ability has saved the township many a dollar in repairs and maintenance,
including painting, electrical work, plastering, cement work and what not.
He probably has done everything at the school but teach a class, and we imagine he
could do that if called upon.
Since the buildinga are in use a;,pst every night during the school year, Ed and his assistant,
Wilbur Geisleman, are often on duty 18 hours a day.
Mr. JOnes' spirit of cooperation and attention to details have often prompted the
commendation of school officals.
Ed is a strickly Hoosier product, having been born in the state and spent all his life here. His
first 10 years at Elwood, he was graduated from the Clinton county High School and worked
for four years as head firemand for the Union Traction Company at Anderson.
Ed came to Culver in 1918, working two years for J. D> Heiser, and three years for A. R.
McKesson as garage foreman. He took up his present duties in the fall of 1923.
