re trying to decide which one hit the bull's eye on the archery range, which is located on the
Maxinkuckee Fish
and Game Club grounds west of town.
Robert Kyle commutes each week to Indianapolis where he is copy editor on the Indianapolis
"Star", a post he has held for three years.
He feels quite at home in Marshall county as he was born in Bourbon and attended grade
school and high school there.
His newspaper experience has been varied, having served on the Indianapolis "News", New
York "Tribune", Hearst organization, five years as publicity director of a motion picture
company, managing editor of the South Bend "News-Times", publick direcotr for the
Republican party in Indiana during two campaigns and the position he now occupies.
Bob's main interest rught now is the new house he is building on School Street.
Mr. THessin was born in Milwaukee, WIsc. where he graduated from high schill and established
quite a record as an athlete
He was undefeated in the state in 1912 in the high jump, broad jump nd pole vault, and for
10 years held the state record in the last named event.
He was the individual star on the 1912 state track meet.
Al is still being placed as halfback on the mythical all-time football teams of Milwaukee and
Wisconosin.
He attended the Battle Creek, Mich. Normal School of Physical Education and the North
American Gymnastic Union at Indianapolis.
From 1916-33 he was phsical director at the Academy and during that time developed a track
star who participated in the Olympic, attended the Amsterdam Olympics with Knute Rockne,
and published a book on measurements for boys that has be come a guide for physical
directors.
Al served in the World War for six months as a second lieutenant.
For the past two years he has been recreation director of the Culver and Starke county area
He has played mportant roles in organizating athletics here, including softball, junior baseball,
volleyball for the men and women, bowling, tennis and others.
Where ever a sporting event is being hel, whether it beshockers or footbal, you'll probably
find Al Thessin.
