Not all of Scott & Toner Avenue is represented by the Sanborn Maps of 1906!
Missing is what is the most crucial & important part of Scott & Toner Avenue - the area in and around the
Vandalia Depot - the very "infamous" area called "One Block West of the Depot" ,"across from the Depot",
"oppsite the depot" in all the nortious ads from teh 1880's. 1890's and and into the 1950's and possibly later
I personally can't imagine why this area with its depot, hotels and restaurants was not detailed.
Street numbering system came into
effect in 1925 - but was not immediately used - the old "One Block West of the Depot" ,"across from the Depot",
"oppsite the depot" as giving location of a business hung one for several more decades by some.
