Advertising & Municipal Dock

$350 Pledged Towards Advertising The Lake; Plan Municipal Dock

About $350 have been pledged toward giving Lake Maxinkuckee the publicity mentioned in last week's issue.

Small signs, about three feet long and eight inches wide, will be placed on steel posts so that they are about a foot above the top of fences. Six or seven of these signs will be used at each location and so spaced that they can be easily read while an automobile is traveling the usual rate of speed.

These locations will be about 20 miles apart and each series will convey the following idea, the dashes indicating a separate sign: See Lake - Maxinkuckee-Spring Fed--Crystal Clear--Culver, Ind. - State Roads 10 and 17.

Road 31 will be covered from Argos to Louisville and possibly the roads between Indianapolis and Terre Haute, and Indianapolis and Cincinnati.

There is also a movement under way to build a fine municipal dock on the location of the old depot pier. This pier would be about 200 feet long and 16 feet wide, with comfortable seats along the full length. It is proposed to build it with native timber, using two by eight inch planks, finished with stain or paint.

Several methods of financing this Culver Municipal Dock have been suggested, but nothing definite has been decided.

Those having constructive ideas are invited to outline them in The Citizen. Citizen Mar 22, 1939
