Milton Shirk, one of the wealthiest men of northern Indiana, dies at Peru last week. While at his cottage on the east side of the lake some time ago, he had a stroke of paralysis which caused his death. He was president of First National Bank of Peru, and was a millionaire. He was well known here, having spent the last 6 or 9 summers at his cottage on the east side of the lake.

Mrs. T. H. Wilson is spending a few days at her cottage in Logansport Row.

Judge A. C. Capron and wife and J. C. Capron and wife of Plymouth spent Sunday at their cottage.

Earl Heller, wife and daughter arrived at the lake Saturday and will be the guests of Mrs. Judy Heller for a few days.

J. H. Vajen; H. R. Bliss, wife and son; C. Vonnegut , wife and daughter; Geo. Mueller; Robert Morrison and wife all of Indianapolis spent Sunday at their cottage.

Capt. Morris is putting a new walk in front of the boat house. He is also putting in a entirely new system of piers

H. F. Kidder and Robt. B. Stewart, government marine boiler inspectors, where here last Friday. They inspected all marine boilers on passenger boats on Lake Maxinkuckee...

Harvy Norris, proprietor of the Maple Grove hotel has been busy improving his property this spring. Having built new porches, painted his hotel and graded and sodded his lawn. He was one of the most pleasant places around the lake and we predict a successful season for this will known hostlery.

Lake View Opens - R. W. Mc Coy of St. Lewis [Louis] was in town last week looking after the repairs being done on the Lake View Hotel. Mr. Coy will manage the Lake View for the season and will open up about Mary 25th or 26th so to be able to accommodate the public during commencement at the academy.
