1898 and to be for the term of one year at $35.00 per annum

regular session on the 21st dya of March 1898 at 7 o'clock P.M.

On motion which was duly seconded and carried the clerk was instructed to draw on
order in favor of Osborn for the rent not de on the rooms occupied by Town Board
And be it further remembered that on motion by trustee Keen which motion was duly
seconded by Trustee Hayes that Geo. W. Voreis by appointed as Inspectpr of
Election to be held on the 2nd day of May 1898. The ayes and nayes were taken
upon said motion Trustees Keen and Haes voting in the affirmative and the President
of said board James H. Castleman declared said motion carried.

Be it rememebred that the Town Board of the town of Culver Cit, Ind. met
in regular session on the 6th day of june 1898 at 7 O'CLock P.M.
Present at said meeting, Trusteees O. A. Rea, Charles Hays and
S. E. Medbourn
Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved.
The secretary of Board of Health was notified to look after the removing
and destroying of the dead fish along the lakeshore.
And be it further remembered that the following resolution was presented
and read by Trustee Hays Rea
That whereas it is beneficial to the Town of Culver City, Indiana to have a street
along the line following on the south side of lots now owned by Chas. Curtis and
extending from Main St. East to Flour Mill site being 309 ft. in length.
And Charles H. Curtis being the owner of a portion of the land adjacent to said
street has made the following instrument of dedication
Know all mend by these Oresent that Charles H. Curtus an unmarried man of
Marshall County State of Indiana for and in consideraton of the sum of One
Dollar and the benefits which will accure to by by the opening and
extension of the street hereinafter mentioned does hereby dedicate to the
Town of Culver City and to the public who may have occasion to use the same
a cerain strip of land sixteen (16) feet wide off the south side of the following
described real estate situated in hte Town of Culver City formerly Marmont
formerly Union Twon Carshall county Indiana towit
Beginning two hunderd and eighty (280) feet east of the north west
corner of section twenty one (21) Township

Thirty-Two (32) north Range One (1) and east. Thence south two hundred
200 and ninety one and one half (291 1/2) feet,thence west one
honudred and fifteen (115) feet; thence south one hindred and foirty eight
(148) feet; thence east three hundred and ninge (309) feet; thence north four
hundred and thrity nine and one half (439 1/2) feeet; then west one hundred
and niety four (194) feet to the place of beginning.
This dedicarion is intended to be for one half of a street, the other half to be
dedicated by parties who own the land south of the land herein described and
this dedication is made for street purposes only and upon the following express
condition which is made precident to the acceotance of the same by the Town
Board of Trustees of the Town of Culver City, towit. The said Curtis and his grantees
immediate and remot shall not be required to build and construct or keep in repair
any sidewalk or sidewalks along or adjacent to said property on the street proposed
to be opened ipon the real estate hereby dedicated and further if said land at any
time shall cease to be used as a street or public highway it shall revert to and cecome
the property of the person who shall own the real estate from which it is hereby taken
and dedicated

the purposees therein expressed and be it further resolved that this resolution be spread in full

was moved by the said O. A. Rea. which motion was duly seconded by S. E. Medbourn that
said resolution be passed and adopted as read. The yaes and nays were taken upon said motion.
Trustees Rea and Medbourn voting in the affirmative and the President of said board O. A. Reas
declared said motion carried and said resolution adopted.

On motion which was duly seconded and carried the clerk was instructed and carried
the clerk was instructed to send the deed for road as made by S. E. Medbourn to
town attorney and have same corrected.

In the matter of the platt of Elizabeth Dudleson addition to Culver City Ind. Comes now
Elizabeth Duddleson by John Osborn her representative and submits to the board of
Trustees her platt of an addition to the Town of Culver City and asks that the same be
approved by the Board and the Board now appointed S. E. Medbourn a special
committee to examine said platt and siad committte is directed to report at the
present meeting of the Board.
The said special committee now submits his report which is in these words

The undersigned your committee to whom was refered the platt of

Elizabeth Duddleson addition to the Town of Culver City Ind. now reports that
he is familiar and well acquainted with the land platted and that he has made a
careful examination of said platt and finds the same all things proper and correct
and he recommends that said platt be approved.
Trustees Hays now offers the following resolution and moves its adoption. Upon the
report of the secial committee to whom was referred the platt of Duddleson addition
to the town of Culver City, Be it resolved that said platt be in all things approved.
The ayes and nayes were taken on said resolution. Trustees Hays and Medbourn voting
in the affirmative and the President O. A. Rea declared said resolution adopted.
The above addition is described as follows Commencing One hundred and forty (140) feet east
of where the section line between sections twenty and twenty one in township thirty two
(32) North range one east runes thesouth line of the north fifty (50) acres of the south 2/3
of the north east quarter of section twenty (20) and lone one (1) in section twenty twenty
one (21) Township thirty two (32) north range one (1) east. said addition lies east of the
Winamac and Plymouth State Road.
The lots are numbered from one (1) to twenty seven (27) inclusive.

Be it remembered that the Town BOad of the town of CUlver City Indiana met
in regular session on the 1st day of AUg. 1898 at 8 O'clock P.M.
Present at said meeting Trustees O. A. Rea S. E. Medbourn and Abraham Hays
Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved.
And be it further remembered that Trustee Samuel E. Medbourn presented and read
the following Ordinance towit
An Ordinance regulating and licensing the selling, bartering and giving away
of intoxicaing liquirs to be drunk as a beverage within the corporate limits of
the town of Culver City Indiana and presenting penalties for the violation
thereof
Sec. 1 Be it ordained by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Culver City
Indiana that it shall be unlawful for any person or persons directly or
indirectly to sell, barter or give away any spirituois Vinouse malt or other
intoxicating luquors to be drunk as a beverage within the corporatelimits of the
Town of Culver City Indiana without first procuring a license from said town as
herein after in this ordinance provided
Sec 2 Any person or person licensed by the Board of County Commissioners of
Marshall County in the STate of Indiana to sell barter or give away intoxicating
liquors within said town may obtain a license from said town to sell barter or
give away Spirituous Vinous Malt or other intoxicating liquors within said town by
producing to the Treasurer of said town his or their license from said Board of
County Commissioners and upon the peaymet to said Treasurer of the sum

One hundred ($100.00) dollars for each and every offence.
Sec 4 All ordinanace of parts of Ordinancein conflict herewith are hereby
repealed Dec. 5" this Ordinance shall be in fll force and effect from and after
its passage and publication
And it was thereupon moved by said Medbourn that said ordinance be passed
and adopted as read which motion was duly seconded by Trustee Abraham Hays
and the yaes and nays were duly taken by the President of said Board on said motion.
Trustees Samuel E. Medbourn and Abraham Hays voting in the affirmative and the
president of said Board Oliver A. Rea declarded said motion carried snd siad ordinance
passed and

adopted. And it was then moved by Trustee Abraham Hays that the Clekr
of said Board be instructed and directed to publish said ordinance for three
successive issues in the Culver City Herald, a weekly news paper of general
circulation published in the town of Culver City Indiaa which motion was duly
seconded by Samuel E. Medbourn and the yaes and nays were taken of said motion
by the President of said Board and Trustees Medbourn and Hays voted in the
affirmative and the President of said Board declared said motion carried and the
said Clerk was ordered to publish said Ordinance in accordance with said
motion.

construction of a side walk along the following route viz. Commencing at Main Street &
running west on the north side of Washington St. to a point opposite of the south east
corner of O. Duddleson property, thence North across Washington St. thence West to the
SOuth west corner of John Buswell property.
On motion which was duly seconded and the CLerk was instructed to notify said property
owners to build said walkas described in said petition.

session on the 5th day of September at 7 O'clock P.M.

And be it further remembered that trustee S. E. Medbourn presented and read the
following ordinance and read the folloiwing ordiance fixing the levy for taxes of said
town for the year 1899 which ordinance is No. 15
Be it ordained by the Board of Trustees of the town of Culver City, Indiana that
the following levy of taxes be and is hereby made for the year 1899 f0r said town
towit
for Corporation purposes on each One hundred (100.00) dollars valuation of the
taxable property of said town forty (40) cents and on each poll twenty-five (25)
cents for tuition purposes on each One hundred (100.00) valuation of the taxable
propertry of said town thirty (.30) cents and on each poll twenty-five (25) cents.
Wereah an emergency exists for the immediate taking effect of this ordiance it shall
therefore be in force and effect from and after its passage.
And the said S. E. Medbourn moved that the same be placed upon its final passage which
motion was duly seconded by Trustee Abraham Hays and the yaes and nays were taken upon
said motion Trustees Medbourn and Hays voting in the affrimative and the President O. A>
Rea declared said |

It was then moved by said Trustee Medbourn that said ordinance be passed and adopted
as read which motion was duly seconded by Trustee Hays. The yawes and nays were taken

aopted as read.

Be it remebered that the Town Board of the town of Culver City Ind. met in regular
session on the 3rd day of October 1898 at 7 O'clock P. M.
Present at said meeting Trustees O. A. Rea Abraham Hayes and S. E. Medbourn
Minutes of previous meeting read and approved
The following biills were allowed
Bill of WM.York for 2000 ft Lumber $32.00
Bill of Eli Spencer work on street 3.12
Bill of L. Easterday work on street 3.12
made payable to D.H. Smith 3.12
Bill of Hayes & Son work on street 1.00
Bill of Hayes & Son Livery for special use of Marshall in emergency 2.00
Bill of Geo, Nearpass for printing Ordianace made payable to H. J. Mereidith $10.50
And be it further remembered that the clerk was instructed to notify Oberchain & Boyers
Builders of Chemical Engines at Logansport that they had not fullfilled their art of agreement
in that the failed to procure the signature to their petition og a majority of the freeholders
of the town of Culver CIty and that no action would be taken by Board until same was
complied with.

Culver City In. Nov. 21" 1898
Be it rememebred that the town board of the town of Culver City Indiana met in regular
sesion on the 21: day of Novemebere 1898 at 7 O'clocke P.M.
Present at said meeting Trusteed O. A. Rea S. E. Medbourn and Abraham Hays
MInutes of previous meeting were read and approved
Bill of D. H. Smith for road work allowed amount $19.50
And be it further remembered that a petition presented by Jonah Geiselman and others for
a side walk on the west side Lake Street along the East line of lots No's 55 - 56 and 57 and out
lot No. 4 was granted and be it further remembered that the Marshall was instructed to order
a side walk on East side of Lake street along west line of lots No. 19 - 20 - 21 and 24
The petition of Obenchain & Boyer llaid over indefinetely
Clerk instructed to order 500 printed noted heads and 500 envelopes
