County Exemption Board Summons 300 More Men ---
First Draft Yields About 50.
Failing to secure the required 140 men out of the number summoned, the Marshall
county conscription board has sent out a call for 300 more to appear Aug. 20-25.

The Democrat publishes a list of 255 men who: answered last week to the first call. Of these
27 passed without claiming exemption,
88 passed the physical examination, but filed exemption claims,
44 who claimed exemption failed on their physical examination,
21 not claiming exemption were rejected on physical examination,
37 claiming exemptions have not been given a final answer on their physical examination and may be
recalled for a second examination, and
38 not asking exemption have not been given a final answer
.
Of the 255 summoned 129 (or one-half) asked for exemption and 115 (or 45 per cent) passed the physical
test - a good showing for Marshall county's physical manhood.
