World War I - UNCLE SAM SAYS COME!

Marshall county needs 25 more men to fill its quota of 127 which has been reduced by later exemptions.

A call has been sent out for 125 registered men to appear before the examining board at Plymouth next Monday and Tuesday.

Following are the Union township men summoned:

    Ralph John Warner.
    Walter Garver.
    Earl Dale Heiser.
    Wm. Ed. Washburn.
    Clarence Calhoun.
    Harry Bogandoff.
    Francis Clyde Bell.
    Frank Germain.
    Nelson Listenberger.
    Ralph A. Cook.
    Wm. Ed. Woodard.

Most of the above named are married or have left the state, and if the proportion holds good throughout the county another call will have to be made.

The next draft for a second army will be made without reference to the serial numbers -- a new system having been adopted by which all the registered men will be divided into five classes -- the first men selected to be taken from Class 1, the next selection from Class 2, and so on.

Thus it will be possible for men who are now at the foot of the list to be the first called, provided they are in Class 1.

Class 1 includes the
    single man without dependent relatives;
    married man (or widower with children) who habitually fails to support his family;
    man dependent upon wife for support;
    married man (or widower with children) not usefully engaged,family supported by income independent of his labor;
    unskilled labor.
