1944 - Jun 21 - House wives Urged to Buy Extra Eggs and Help Relieve Surplus

1944 - June 21 - Used Cars Under Price Control - Beginning July 10 all used passenger cars come under price control... All sellers - individual owners as well as dealers - come ' under the program. Ceilings will vary by model, body type and make and will cover about 6,000 models manufactured from 1932-1932. There will be as "as is" and a "warranty" price for each model and body type... When a sale has been completed the buyer and sell must fill out a transfer certificate and turn this into the buyer's local War Price and Rationing board. Nearly four million motor vehicles went out of use in the United States in 1942 and 1943 and have not been replaced. the Federal Work Agency reports.

Rationing continued on many items until 1954 -

  • 1948 - The end of rationing begins. It is another 5 years before rationing of all products is stopped.
  • 25 July 1948 - end of flour rationing
  • 15 March 1949 - end of clothes rationing
  • 19 May 1950 - rationing ended for canned and dried fruit, chocolate biscuits, treacle, syrup, jellies and mincemeat.
  • September 1950 - rationing ended for soap
  • 3 October 1952 - Tea rationing ended
  • February 1953 - Sweet and sugar rationing ends (some say Sugar rationing ended in June 1947
  • 4 July 1954 - Food rationing ends, Meat was the last item to be derationed
