Maxinkuckee Yacht Club Dines, Awards Trophies, and Elects
The 10th annual post regatta season banquet and annual meeting of the Maxinkuckee Yacht Club
was held at the Maxinkuckee Inn Saturday night.
A gala affair, attended by many Indianapolis families as well as up-state and out of state
members and guests, was the occasion for the award of more than 50 trophies to skippers and
crews of the yacht club and the election of officers for the ensuing year.
The retiring officers and committee in charge of the Decennial Celebration were:
Commodore, Feirce C. Ward, Rochester;
Vice Commodore, C. Harvey Bradley, Indianapolis;
Rear Commodore, Charles H. Ray Jr., Terre Haute; and
Secretary-Treasurer, Norman C. Michels, Culver.
The regatta committee was:
Col. W. E. Gregory, Culver;
Wesley A. Dunn, Indianapolis;
Fred Holmes, LaFayette;
Stephen Y. Hord, Lake Forest, Ill.;
Col. Geo. L. Miller, Culver; and
Walker W. Winslow, Indianapolis.

chief timer, Henry W. Bliss, Indianapolis;
chairman entertainment, Anne Ellsworth, Culver;
measurer and chief commissary officer, Mr. Winslow.
Mr. Ward, retiring commodore, presided in the "Shack," which was aglow with naval pennants,
running lights, and a riot of color. The officer's table was laden with 52 trophies as awards
in recognition of excellence of seamanship and the service rendered during the current year.
The enthusiasm of nearly one hundred reservationists testified to the ever increasing popularity
of Yacht Club activities on Indiana's second largest lake.

The lion's share of the long list of trophies was laid at the feet of a comely young Indianapolis
skipper, Miss Eleanor F. Winslow, with her Class C yacht, "Winsi." Miss Winslow's awards in Class C
included: Robt. C. Winslow Memorial Trophy, 1939 championship; Robert C. Winslow Memorial Trophy,
1940 championship; Diamond Lake Yacht Club, 1940 championship; Maxinkuckee Yacht Club Medallions,
Winner six races; Maxinkuckee Yacht Club, medallion bowl; M. Y. C. Junior Skipper Trophy, junior
champion; Miller Trophy, runner up Labor Day race; S. Y. Hord Trophy Aug. 10, winner moonlight race.
Second in line was Norman E. Michels, in Class E, skipping his yacht, "Miss Patsy II": Robert C.
Winslow Memorial Trophy, 1939 championship; 5 M. Y. C. Medallions, winner 5 races; M. Y. C.
