Recreational and social activities here at lake Maxinkuckee will soon be in full swing. Cottagers have already opened their homes for the 1950 season and most of the residents have returned to their lake homes.

The opening of the 15th annual regatta season of the Maxinkackee Yacht Club on July 2, will add impetus to the seasonal festivities. Founded in 1931, the Maxinkuckee Yacht Club membership rolls list more than 160 active members.

Preliminary to the official opening of the sailing season, competing members of the sailing fleet will be readying their gear and getting in some practice sailing.

The opening race is officially listed as the annual tuneup race. Commodore L. Roy Ford, Sr. of Indianapolis, Ind., will meet with Yacht Club officers here at the Walker Winslow cottage prior to the opening race to go over final details and racing rules.

Robert E. Hollowell Jr. of Indianapolis, is vice-commodore and Col. Walker W. Winslow of Culver, Ind., is commodore emeritus and secretary-treasurer for the club.

The important posts of chief timer and chief judge for the '50 series of races are held by Henry W. Bliss and Robert E. Hollowell, Sr., both of Indianapolis, respectively. Oscar B. Perine is rear commodore and C. Perry Griffith assistant secretary and treasurer. Both are from Indianapolis.

Members of the Regatta committee include: Walter W. Foskett, Col. William E. Gregory, Peirce C. Ward, James H. Raddell, Perry H. O'Neal and Henry E. Todd.

The membership committee is composed of William C. Griffith, chairman, C. Harvey Bradley, Sr., Edgar W. Hauser, Sr., and Paul C. Cullom.

On the Buoy committee are: Jerold R. Ford, chairman, Joyce Hollowell, Arthur R. Baxter, II, Thomas A. Perine, Marsh H. Blackburn, Dick Ruddell, Walter S. Griffith, Paul M. Todd, and Edgar W. Hauser, Jr.

Trophies committee member. ship includes: Margaret A. Ford, chairman, Louise P. Todd and Frances E. Winslow.

On the New Year's Eve and winter sports regatta committee are: Robert E. Hollowell, Jr., chairman, W. A. Dunn, Hanly R. Blackburn, H. George Mueller, William C. Griffith, Jr., and Donaldson G. Trone.

Members of the junior fleet committee are: Oscar B. Perine, chairman, Wesley A. Dunn, Edwin H. Becker, Elwood M. Haynes, Mary N. Becker, Phillip M. Cornelius, Joe Hillis, Robert E. Hillis, Cynthia Hendricks and George H. Cullom.

In addition to the weekly sailing races several social activities are being planned by the Club's entertainment committee composed of Esther Cullom, chairman, Peg Hendricks, Esther Haynes, Anne Ellsworth, Juanita Hollowell, Caroline L. Hau-er and Marie B. Ruddell.

Following the first race on Sunday it is expected that members of the Club will gather for refreshments.

Another party being planned for the occasion of the first of two moonlight sailing races to be held on1 the evening of July 22nd or 23rd.

The annual post-regatta season banquet will be held here at the Maxinkuckee Inn on September 9.

Other calendared events for the year include the Annual New Year's Eve Jamboree to be held on December 31st and the Ice Regatta to be held from January 1, through March 4. 1951. The new 1950 Yearbook, issued this week by Secretary Walker Winslow, points out "Our fleet is growing-both with new boats. new skippers and new crews.

In 1950 we are anticipating a most exciting and successful regatta. Commodore Henry Todd has provided the Yacht Club with two blue and white burgees to flown by the winner of each race in the succeeding race. Plans have been announced for a tuneup race each Saturday afternoon which the purpose will be to train and develop interest among crew members of each yacht.

Veteran sailing craft and their skippers are entered in both Class."E" and Class "C' competition.

The Class "E" entrants are as follows:
